Maintenance Technician

TITLE: Maintenance Technician
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager
BASED AT: Harken, Inc., Pewaukee, WI
STATUS: Full Time, 1st shift, Non-Exempt


  • Monitor and maintain bulk tanks of coolant
  • Monitor and maintain machine coolant tanks at proper coolant levels on a daily basis
  • Record coolant conditions of individual machines on a weekly basis
  • Service and clean machine tanks when needed
  • Maintain proper Way Oil levels on various machines
  • Handle shop waste, paper, cardboard and waste wood
  • Collect, separate and monitor quantities of  metals for recycling
  • Maintain accurate records of all recyclables and report count and shipping status to manager
  • Prepare and ship recyclables when appropriate
  • Operate and maintain centrifugal coolant separator (metal chip spinner)
  • Monitor waste oil and waste water for removal by outside service
  • Maintain maintenance cleaning equipment
  • Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies
  • Clean machines and machine parts, using solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment


  • Ability to use standard office equipment.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Publisher.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, feel or handle objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands or arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Must be able to walk or stand on concrete for up to 4 hours at a time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to focus.
